As it happens it couldn't have been better, the sun was shining, there was a slight breeze, perfect for running. It was a kilometer to the starting point from the drop off zone. While we were waiting there was a group of lads in traditional dress playing drums and pipes, they were really good, I just wish I could have got a photo of them. I decided to run in my Newton Trainers, up to now I have only used the on the treadmill. It was definitely a good idea, so comfortable. I did a mixture of jogging and walking, but managed to run some good distances before I started to walk again. We started off down some country lanes, then onto the road alongside the River Ness and into Inverness. Crossed the bridge and carried on next to the River for another few kilometers finishing in the Queens Stadium. I was announced crossing the line but from the video its difficult to see which one is me. Also the only picture of me on the website is awful, it shows me looking at the floor!! Really disappointed there isn't a decent picture for my scrap book and blog.
Collected my medal, which is really nice, as is the t-shirt, goodie bag with some good stuff in, banana, cake and water. I also was given a voucher for a free bowl of soup and a roll. My only disappointment in the bag was the two tins of Baxters Soup, I was expecting Scotch Broth or Cock a leekie. I got Chillie Beef and another spicy soup! I can't eat spicy food and it gets me why its assumed that everyone does. It didn't spoil the day though.
There was lots of a activities at the finish, groups playing, lots of freebies and the usual coffee, soup, neaps and tatties stalls. Good time too 1:17:43.
