Skyride Sale to Lymm and return

Drove to Sale Water Park in Manchester for todays Skyride. It was a chance for me to try my new pedals and shoes. It was mainly along the Transpenine Trail and by the Canal. It was only 35k, so we could do it easily.
This is me, we had to wear hi-viz vests with Skyride written on, that enabled the 'leaders' to keep an eye on everyone. There was 25 of us altogether, I spent most of my time bringing up the rear, mainly so I could see where we were going. I don't like riding wheel to wheel and not being able to see what's coming.
A half way break, these lads had sandwiches and fruit, I just had my drink!
Getting ready for the off again.
I don't think they took into account how many gates we would have to go through on the TPT, consequently it took us two hours to do half the loop. As a result of this we came back a different route to reduce the time. Personally I would have liked to go faster, but it was a nice gentle Sunday ride. Just a couple of hic-cups, a girl behind me screamed, so the leader in front stopped, as did the person behind and I ran into the back of her, then in slow motion, I just fell over! I have bruised and scraped my right thigh and knee, thankfully we were on the canal path and I fell onto the grass, so at least it was a soft landing. Then later as we went through the town (traveling from the canal to the TPT) again somebody stopped suddenly in front of me, this time I managed to get one foot out, so only got a scraping on my left ankle and right arm.
All in all a good day, took 3:50 hours in the end. Glad to get home for a shower.
