Got to Tatton Park early so managed to get a decent parking place on the field. The lower parts of the field were boggy, I just had to negotiate one big puddle. It was blowing a gale and I just sat in my car reading my latest copy of Triathletes World. I only made my way over to the group in time to visit the loo's and do the warm up. I must admit, it's one of the best warm ups, I actually managed to do it all and enjoyed it. Another good thing for today, we had three starting flags, Runners, Joggers and Walkers. It was also a 5k and 10k mixed.
I knew that due to the weather, and knowing Tatton as I do, it would be muddy, with lots of deer and sheep poo. So, I decided to wear my Salomons Trial Shoes and my new 100 mile socks. I got my shoes in the summer sales but haven't worn them yet. They say don't wear new shoes for a run, but as it was only 10k I took the chance - and I am glad I did. I didn't have to pussyfoot round the puddles, I just ran straight through!
I did a lot of running with a lot of walking in between, I just couldn't manage to run up those hills. I am pleased with my time though 1:14:00 - another personal best. It's nice the medal actually says 10k too, as usually they are the same as the 5k so you cannot tell what someone has done.
No problems with my feet, but my legs are aching!
