I was pleased with myself, I have conquered a fear and hard though it was I have made a start. I swam approx 250 meters. You may say thats not much, but it was open water and I haven't been swimming long. I did it and didn't give up, thats what matters.

Boundry Park
With some trepidation I went to Boundry Park for the open water swim. The water was warm, 22 degrees, yes it actually was warm. I put on my wetsuit and just sat in the water getting used to it. Jane McCormick was there, she is a young girl who has swam around Manhattan recently, she is a channel swimmer and one of the best distance swimmers in the UK. She comes from Kilmarnock in Scotland, but now lives in Manchester. She was lovely, she swam with me and gave me some tips to help me. They put an additional buoy in the water half way to the first buoy, we swam to that, then swam on to the first main buoy, then back to the half way buoy. By then I was tired, but I made it back to the bank.
