13 March 2005 Liverpool Half Marathon

I had enjoyed my runs from 2004 so I thought why not try a half marathon! It was very well organised, from what I remember, we parked on Albert Dock where busses were laid on to take you to SeftonPark where the course started and finished, busses were laid on to take you back to your cars. This was my first run of 2005 and I hadn't really given it much thought.
For a start it was freezing cold, I was running in my summer gear, vest and shorts! I gave up trying to run (again) and walked as fast as I could. I was so cold. A police car kept stopping to ask me if I was all right or did I need the ambulance! The wind blew off the Mersey and I really didn't think I could possibly get colder. By this point which was halfway, I was virtually numb with cold and my legs were giving up the ghost. But I struggled on. When I left the start, there was a small fairground, lots of stalls and loads of people. When I finally got back, and I did, there was just a girl sat on a chair with my baggage and my medal! Thankfully a bus was waiting for me. I nearly collapsed getting on it and the driver took pity on me and gave me a cup of coffee from his flask, it was heavenly. My time 3:26:57.
