Saturday and Sunday were spent mainly walking, with a bit of caving, rock climbing and abseiling. Visit my other blog (maryandrews.blogspot) for more on that.

Activity Weekend
Had a nice afternoon mountain biking. Started off in Litton and cycled to Litton Mill.
Look at the size of the chimney next to this house, it isn't attached its on an adjacent shed like stone building.
This is the mill on the right, I think it is now luxury flats. It's private so it could be.
A massive chimney on the end of this house, when you get around the corner you can see its part of the old mill.
View from the footbridge across the water to Litton Mill.
An old waterwheel. Sadly left to rot and yet they put a notice about it. They should remove the plants growing on it and preserve it.
Over a little bridge into the lower woodland. Peaceful and pleasant, a nice gentle ride.
At one point a river flowed over the road, the bridge under the road is small and obviously not big enough as it was quite narrow. Still its fun cycling through water, like big kids.
This path led up onto the Monsal Trail, an old railway track thats no longer used. Heck of a steep climb with a bike, but managed it ok.
This is part of the Monsal Trail, its wide, with lots of wild plants and stunning cliff faces.
Back down again. Back to the car park, in total about two and a half hours cycling. 8.85 miles, min 653 ft, max 991 ft, ascent 505 ft. As stated really hard climbs in places. Burned about 740 calories.
