Riding over a stone.

Riding the burn.

Arrgh!

Ready for the off. You can find my dirt lid, gloves, shorts and bike at Wiggle.
After a brief introduction we split into groups based on experience, I was with the newbies. We did some basic training first in the car park, riding slow, going over stones, burns etc. Then we set off on the trail. I don't know what it is with me, but every time I go out cycling with a group, we always seem to start off with a massive climb!! Today was no exception. It was hard going but I just took it nice and easy and only had to walk for a small section that was just too steep. After that, it was a mixture of ups and downs. The trail is lovely, through the forest and some open land, there was an amazing view at the top. Hopefully, there will be some photos to come, if I can get copies I will add them later. By the time it came to do the decent, I was really getting the hang of it, gears were no problem as they are the same as the road bike, it was the standing up and bouncing up and down, then the speed, I just got to the point where I just let it go, what an adrenalin rush. We got back to base at 12:30 just in time for lunch being served. In the afternoon most went back out and did a harder route but I didn't want to overdo it and also didn't want to get stuck in traffic going home at 5pm.
Got home, cleaned and oiled my bike, washed my clothes, they were a bit muddy - lol. The weather was really good, a slight shower, nothing to complain about, but generally dry. Really looking forward to the next outing with them.
